Smolare Falls is the tallest waterfall in the Republic of Macedonia, falling from a height of 39.5 metres (129.5 feet). It is located above the village of Smolare in the Municipality of Novo Selo in the southeastern region of the country.

The waterfall is part of the Lomnica River and is located deep in Mount Belasica at an elevation of 630 metres. Crashing down the smooth, black rock face, and surrounded by 100-year-old beech trees, this waterfall is visited by tourists throughout the year, largely by train.

Korab Falls

Korab Falls (also known as Proifel Falls) is a waterfall in the upper course of the Dlaboka River on Mount Korab. It forms in springtime from the melting snow on the east side of Mal Korab peak. The waterfall differs in height and intensity, depending on the season. It is the highest waterfall in Macedonia and the Balkan Peninsula.

There are different sources about the height of the waterfall, and the calculated drop varies from 100 to 138 m (328 to 453 ft). The exact height may differ in different points that are taken as its top and bottom, at different measurements. The upper point is at approximately 2,120 metres (6,960 ft) above sea level, and the lower is at around 1,990 metres (6,530 ft).

The highest water levels are in late May and early June, and afterwards the level drops throughout the summer. During very dry summers, the waterfall may dry out in late August and September.

The best track route to the waterfall is the one that leads through the river canyon. It can be accessed both from the left bank of the river through the villages of Nistrovo and Zuznje, or from the right bank from Bibaj, beneath Kabash Peak. The routes are poorly marked, covered with overgrowth, and there are several unsecured river crossings.[1]

Koleshino Falls

Koleshino Falls is located above the village of Kolešino in the Municipality of Novo Selo in the southeastern region of the Republic of Macedonia.

Flowing from the Baba River, the waterfall is found at an elevation of 610 metres on the Mount Belasica. The waterfall gently falls over the stone cliffs nestled in the forest of Mount Belasica at a height of 19 metres (62 ft.) in multiple watery streams only to reform into the river below.

The waterfall is beautiful in ever season and continually changes to reflect nature which surrounds it. In the winter, these fragile streams can become frozen and in the spring, strengthened by the recent rainfalls, the gentle streams rush more powerfully over the cliff sides.

Kolešino Falls is a major tourist attraction for the Municipality of Novo Selo. It is open year round, and the site is continuing being developed to meet the needs of visitors. Currently, the site has a wooden bridge to view the waterfall, benches to take a brief rest and even a picnic area with a covered gazebo and grilling area. The municipality has long term plans to build a restaurant and hotel near the site, as well as additional walking paths and improvements to the access road.
